Radio Flyer Recalls Child Ride-On Toy

Radio Flyer, a Chicago-based company that makes wagons and other ride-on toys for children, recently announced a recall of its “Scoot ‘n’ Zoom” children’s ride-on toy, according to a recent report from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The toy is 19 inches long and is made of red molded plastic. It has black plastic wheels and the name “Radio Flyer” along its side in white script. The recalled toys have the lot number “711” molded into the underside of the toy. A very similar model, with the lot number “711B” on the underside and sold at Wal-Mart stores, has not been recalled.

The recalled “Scoot ‘n’ Zoom” toys may tip over if a child is riding them, causing the child to fall forward and risk facial injuries. The company has had several complaints of injuries from parents of children who were hurt on these toys, including a few incidents of loosened teeth or chin injuries that needed stitches.

Consumers are instructed to contact Radio Flyer by phone at (800) 621-7613 or at the company’s website, www.radioflyer.com, for a replacement toy or a refund.

Parents strive to find safe and fun toys for their children to enjoy. When a toy puts a child’s safety in danger or causes injuries, the results can be frightening as well as harmful to a child’s health.
