A 51-year-old pilot and resident of Arlington was tragically killed in a TN aviation accident that occurred in Fayette County. According to a WREG.com news report, the 51-year-old man was the lone occupant of the Cirrus SR-20 fixed-wing, single-engine plane that had taken off from the Millington Regional Jetport at around 8:45 a.m. on July 11. The plane was reportedly headed to Florida, but crashed shortly before 9 a.m. near Moscow, a city in Fayette County. The Fayette County Sherriff’s Department states there were no mayday calls or reports from the pilot that indicated anything was wrong with the plane.
The plane crashed down in a Moscow field, and a resident in a nearby home said the crash happened very quickly and what was heard simply “sounded like a rocket.” The man added that the crash is truly a tragedy, and all the community can do is “pray for the family with their tragic loss.” The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the crash and has collected the wreckage for analysis. The NTSB notes that a report is typically not completed for two to three months following an accident.
According to the database of the Federal Aviation Administration, the pilot was the owner of the plane.
An aviation accident is one of the more dangerous types of accidents that can occur and is very likely to result in life-threatening injuries for occupants of the aircraft or even fatalities. In Chattanooga, we have a lot of people with private planes. In this area, the safety rules protect us all from catastrophe. Therefore, when someone violates the safety rules for airplanes, we take these cases very seriously.
In the event an aviation accident was caused by the negligent actions of another party, accident victims have the legal right to pursue compensation from anyone deemed at-fault.
