A cooking grill that fell from somebody’s vehicle onto Interstate 24 recently caused multiple accidents, including a motorcycle accident that hospitalized a Chattanooga man, according to a recent news report from WRCB.
The large gas grill apparently fell from the back of a pickup truck, according to eyewitnesses, although police have not yet been able to locate the truck or the grill’s owner. It landed on I-24 near Germantown Road, where it lay in the middle of the freeway posing a hazard that soon set off several car accidents.

A Chattanooga man was riding his motorcycle near the grill’s resting place when a car, traveling near him in the same direction, hit its brakes suddenly to avoid colliding with the abandoned gas grill. The motorcyclist collided with the car and was thrown from his motorcycle, losing his helmet in the crash and striking his head on the pavement. He is currently being treated at a local hospital for his injuries, which include a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and bleeding in his brain. The driver of the car involved in the crash was not injured, nor was the driver of a second car that also crashed after making a last-minute attempt to avoid hitting the cooking grill lying in the middle of the interstate.
