Two separate recent traffic accidents in Chattanooga both left one person dead and another injured, according to the Times-Free Press. In a tragic coincidence, the accidents occurred within an hour of one another, though they were unrelated incidents.
The first accident occurred when a fast-moving car rear-ended the second car on Brainerd Road near the Playoff Sports Bar. The first car then hit the sign for the sports bar, which immediately alerted the bar’s staff and patrons that the accident had occurred. Patrons rushed out to help the accident’s victims and called emergency services, but the driver of the car that had hit the sports bar’s sign died on her way to the hospital. Police suspect she may have had a medical emergency while driving, which caused the accident. The driver of the second car was also taken to the hospital to be treated for head injuries.
The second accident was a one-car crash on Noah Reid Road. The driver of the car lost control and traveled off the road, hitting a tree. The driver of that car died in the crash, according to rescue workers, and his passenger suffered a broken arm and other injuries. Police are still investigating the cause of that accident, but they believe speed may have played a role.
