Attorney Danny Ellis

Noted personal injury attorney Danny Ellis (named as a rising star by Super Lawyers seven years straight) learned to care for others by watching his parents. Danny’s parents were dedicated Christians who operated orphanages and children’s homes. As a result, Danny saw his parents dedicate most of their productive years to helping children with no family to care for them, even taking in foster children and adopting children into their own family. Consequently, Danny learned the priority of giving himself for the benefit of others who need help.

Licensed to practice law in TN and GA

Danny also learned sacrifice from his parents. With Family Roots in Illinois, Danny actually spent parts of his childhood in five states: Illinois, New Mexico, Texas, Kentucky, and Arkansas. The reason for so many moves is because his parents traveled to different children’s homes to care for helpless children. Changing scenery so many times, Danny developed an outgoing personality with a heart sensitive to the needs of others.

Also, being the youngest of five natural children, Danny learned to scrape and fight for what he got. Being a natural athlete who excelled at soccer, he was called “the Danimal” because of his aggressive play. Earning a scholarship to Freed Hardeman University, Danny graduated in three years with Honors and went on to law school at Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.

After graduating near the top of his class in law school and serving as an editor for the Cumberland Law Review, Danny began his law practice in Jackson, Tennessee. Danny quickly made his mark and gained notoriety as a fearsome courtroom advocate. Soon, Danny was handling cases across West Tennessee achieving recoveries for clients of $350,000 in a rear-end case with a cervical herniation and over $500,000 in a tractor-trailer case.

Danny’s personality and heart for service went further than practicing law. Mr. Ellis was elected to the City Council in Jackson by defeating a long-standing incumbent where he served as a zealous advocate for fiscal restraint and transparency in governmental dealings. Soon, Mr. Ellis rose to the position of Vice Mayor. At the same time, Mr. Ellis started a family with his wife Jennifer. They have two beautiful children, a son and a daughter. Soon, Mr. Ellis became concerned that his family was suffering from his many commitments. Mr. Ellis decided to leave Jackson so he could devote more time to his family. As a result, he and his family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee.

In Knoxville, Mr. Ellis was the managing attorney for the local office Allen, Kopet, and Associates, practicing insurance defense. Mr. Ellis worked closely with insurance adjusters and large corporations to defend against personal injury actions brought by individuals. Mr. Ellis gained great insight in how personal injury cases are defended, evaluated, and ultimately settled or tried during his time in Knoxville. Ultimately unsatisfied by working for insurance companies and against consumers, Mr. Ellis has returned to his roots by joining Massey & Associates, where his personal injury practice focuses exclusively on representing those who have been wrongfully injured. Using the insight from defending such cases, Mr. Ellis says “I am now able to get the defendant’s representatives to focus on the most important early on. Consequently, we are able to resolve most cases issues much more quickly. In his first two months with Massey and Associates, Mr. Ellis won a judgment of $300,000 for one client.

Making his mark on both sides of the aisle, Mr. Ellis has been named as an up and coming Super Lawyer both as a plaintiff’s lawyer and defense lawyer.

Away from the office, Danny’s heart for children and service still shines through. Danny and his wife Jennifer lead a children’s ministry at the Mountain Creek Church of Christ where they attend with their two children, Justin and Reagan. Danny is a committed Christian, Bible Class Teacher, and song-leader.

Danny remains dedicated to helping individuals who have suffered because of the wrongful acts of another, with a special place in his heart for children missing the protection of their parents.
